Introducing the EU ENERGY STAR®

Welcome to the website of the European Community ENERGY STAR Programme for energy efficient office equipment [1].

Introducing

  • The ENERGY STAR label representing a level that any environmentally conscious manufacturer will want to meet.
  • The ENERGY STAR database that lets you pick the most energy efficient models, within the group of ENERGY STAR qualified office equipment, which meet your performance criteria.
  • Background information and hints on why it makes sense to buy the most energy efficient office equipment, how to select the most energy saving configuration and how to use it most efficiently (see left menu).

This website

The website is split into three sections, tailored to the needs of the different target groups:

This 'Home' page (link always available in top-menu) allows you to make/change the selection: Click above, in the picture or go directly to the relevant page using the left-hand menu.
The general pages, always accessible in the top menu, bring you the latest News on EU ENERGY STAR promotion, relevant Links, Contacts and Downloads (English or original language only). The Help menu links to pages such as 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQ), the 'Technical Library' (including Glossary) and Extra tools such as desktop wallpapers.

The introduction is available in 11 EU languages: Language selection in the upper right corner of this page.

ENERGY STAR Partners

Office equipment manufacturers who want to register their ENERGY STAR qualified equipment will find more information here. Also, large institutional and private business buyers, as well as retailers interested in promoting energy efficient office equipment can find information on the benefits of becoming an ENERGY STAR Partner here.

[1] The EU ENERGY STAR programme follows an Agreement between the Government of the US and the European Community (EU) to co-ordinate energy labeling of office equipment. It is managed by the European Commission. US partner is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), that started the scheme in the US in 1992 (European Council decision PDF (97kb).
